VIDEO GAMES. THEY REQUIRE CONCENTRATION. (April 11, 2020)

Third post from the original blog.

"So I tried to play video games this evening, but my five-year-old sister, Sam, seemingly wanted to bug me. I love her to death, but I don't think that should give her the right to act annoying just because.

Super Mario Sunshine - Good news: I finally got to the hillside cave in Bianco Hills, Episode 3. Bad news: When I went in there, there was a nasty not-quite-a-surprise - Shadow Mario stole F.L.U.D.D. from the real Mario! I expected this from looking up a walkthrough, but what I didn't realize was the fact that the platform-to-platform jumps were so tricky for some reason. Maybe I should have read the walkthrough a little bit more... Anyway, I fell off the level three times.

Super Mario Bros. - I considered playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, but I didn't want to because of the... suggestive... design of one of Mario's partners, Madame Flurrie. I don't think it's a big deal, but I'm pretty sure my mom would think it was a big deal, and I know for a fact that Sam would tattle on me about there being something "inappropriate" in a Super Mario game. So, I just decided to kick it old school and play the original Super Mario Bros. I lost most of my extra lives on World 1-4 because I was trying to get the Super Mushroom at the beginning of the level, but I kept getting hit by the Firebar under the ? Block. After about three tries, I just skipped the ? Block altogether and sped through the level. I cleared it, but when I got to World 2-3, Sam started talking to me again at the wrong moment, and I messed up a jump and got hit by a Cheep Cheep. Then I messed up on my own and got a Game Over. As you probably guessed, it was not my lucky day.

I did get to play with my cousins and Aunt Kristie. We played Jackbox TV over Zoom (the new thing that's like FaceTime that you can use if you have the Internet and a computer with a camera), and it was pretty fun. We had to sign in through our phones, but we got to play a couple rounds of Drawful and Quiplash, which were pretty awesome. We also played Would You Rather..., which was okay. It was a bit tricky because of the lack of physical presence, but we managed to have a blast. My mom also made hamburgers for me and Sam, which were delicious.

Anyway, that's it for now. See you soon, and have a good day."
